Alice Chen is a graduate of the Royal School of Needlework. Alice’s versatility and talent is shown through her use of a wide range of materials. She proves she is equally at home working with canvas, crewel, silk and gold and produces beautiful and intricate embroideries of animals, flowers and people. Whatever it is that Alice decides to turn her hand to, the finished product is always stunning.
Alice is due to launch her company Denmark Hill Embroidery Space in the next 12 months. The name was chosen to commemorate her time spent living and studying London. Her journey to the Royal School of Needlework in Hampton Court Palace took her through Denmark Hill station in Camberwell, an area of which she was particularly fond.
Alice is currently based in Guangzhou and offers classes in Crewel work at her home and downtown at Seven Circles Art Space. Through her website, Alice sells Appleton’s wool and vintage pieces, some of which she produces herself.
