Tara Dakini started teaching Embroidery in 2005, offering classes in hand embroidery and felt flower workshops and created her business ‘The Mistress of Stitch’ in 2007 when she was living in Brighton, as a way to market her Embroidery Classes and Workshops.
Launched in August 2017, Tara’s first kit is called “Jacobean Rainbow”. Tara created a boarder design based on 17th century embroideries and pattern books from the V & A and other sources and then selected a colour range including all the colours of the rainbow. Each of the 15 students worked the panel in their own unique colour palette and when all of the individual panel are displayed together it creates one long rainbow coloured display.
The piece is currently on display in The Barony Centre, a local craft Gallery in West Kilbride, Scotland. The kits enable anyone to create their own rainbow. The Crewel Embroidery kits are available in Blue, Yellow and Violet, with the other colours to be released later on.
