300 miles of Appletons wool in one tapestry….

Don’t forget to have a look at the Great Scottish Tapestry if you get the chance – an entire history of Scotland in over 160 panels, up to and including Dolly the Sheep (see photo below courtesy of Alex Hewitt). The entire 140m project is at the Kirkcaldy gallery in Fife until September 20th, 2015, and is the result of a years work by over 1,000 stitchers. The project was spearheaded by best-selling author Alexander McCall Smith, who together with historian Alistair Moffat, artist Andrew Crummy, and stitch-coordinator Dorie Wilkie masterminded the entire adventure.
