Win a Crewel Embroidery kit designed by Anna Scott!!!

04 March

We’ve partnered with Australian designer Anna Scott to give you the chance to win one of her beautiful kits!

Anna Scott’s designs and kits are largely inspired by traditional hand embroidery and decorative arts, to which she gives a subtle contemporary twist resulting in a traditional but not typical piece.

When Anna designed ‘Scarlet Glory’ she wanted to do something that looked like a fragment of a much larger piece. The embroidery is stitched onto ivory Italian Graziano linen, with the design printed, ready to go. Graziano linen is Anna’s favourite fabric for medium size crewel embroidery, being closely woven and sturdy it offers really good support for the wool stitches,  without being as heavy as the more traditional linen twill.

‘Scarlet Glory’ is worked using 25 different embroidery stitches and stitch combinations to create different textures and patterns within the design. Most are common embroidery stitches used in various ways, and the more complex stitches are clearly illustrated in the notes.

‘Scarlet Glory’ is stitched in shades of burnt orange, terracotta and pinks with splashes of warm yellow.

The piece included in the kit is 45cm square, leaving you plenty of spare fabric around the edges of the embroidery to make it into a cushion cover if desired.

 Included in the kit you will find:

* INSTRUCTION BOOKLET with detailed, step by step instructions and diagrams.

* Italian linen with the embroidery design marked for your convenience.

* 3 needles.

* 19 shades of Appletons crewel wool.

 To complete the embroidery all you will need is:

50cm (20”) square, slate or stretcher frame OR 35cm-40cm (14” – 16”) embroidery hoop with deep sides.
