Allermuir Tapestry Project

Andrew Crummy is the designer of well-known large-scale tapestries, including The Great Tapestry of Scotland, The Mount Felix Tapestry, The Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry and The Scottish Diaspora Tapestry. These tapestries are community art projects that have involved over 2,000 stitchers globally and have exhibited in numerous venues including Scottish Parliament, Westminster Hall, Stirling Castle, Museums, Galleries and Community Spaces.

Andrew is currently working on several projects using Appletons wools. On 9th January 2019, Andrew launched an ongoing project to produce 2 panels for the new Allermuir Medical Centre in Edinburgh telling the story of the history of this area of Scotland. The first workshop was held in The Allermuir Medical Centre where the tapestry is housed. The aim of the project is to involve the staff and users in the research, design and construction of the artwork.
