Mental Health Awareness Week

This week is mental health awareness week and wow, does that feel appropriate right now! For all those of us who are feeling the pressure of lockdown, or who have anxieties of any kind, let’s remember that all crafts and creativity have been shown to have a positive effect on our mental health – keep on stitching!! Did you know that embroidery was taught to injured soldiers during and after World War I to help with their mental and physical recovery? Or that it is currently used to improve the mental health of long term prisoners around the country? More on that later this week.

This year’s theme is kindness and given our current circumstances, it seems that this is going to be the most important quality to get us through the pressures of lockdown.
